What "Teeth in a Day" actually means — and what it doesn't

"Teeth in a Day" is the most patient-friendly term for what dentists technically call "immediate loading full-arch implant restoration." In one surgical appointment, three things happen: failing or remaining teeth in the arch are removed, four to six dental implants are placed strategically into the jawbone, and a fixed temporary bridge of teeth is attached to those implants the same day.

You arrive that morning without a working set of teeth. You leave that afternoon with fixed teeth — meaning the bridge is screwed onto the implants and is not removable. You can smile, talk, and eat soft foods immediately.

There's an important distinction we want to be clear about: the teeth you leave with on day one are the temporary bridge, not your final bridge. The temporary is custom-made before your surgery using digital impressions and your CT scan, and it functions just like the final teeth — but it's made of acrylic and is designed to be replaced after 3–6 months of healing with the final, custom-milled zirconia bridge that will be your permanent set of teeth.

How modern dentistry made same-day teeth possible

The Teeth in a Day protocol exists because of three specific technological and clinical advances that, until 20–25 years ago, didn't exist together.

Strategic implant angling

Traditional implants were placed straight up and down. The All-on-4 protocol introduced angled posterior placement (typically 30–45°), which allows implants to be anchored in the densest available bone — providing enough primary stability at placement to support a fixed prosthesis the same day.

3D cone-beam CT imaging and surgical guides

Pre-surgical 3D imaging lets us know exactly where every implant will be placed before surgery begins. Surgical guides — built from your CT data — direct each drill and implant to its predetermined position, eliminating the imprecision that historically required staged treatment.

Digital fabrication of the temporary bridge

Your custom temporary bridge is designed digitally before surgery and milled in advance. It's ready to attach to the implants at the end of the surgical appointment — not adjusted on the spot like older approaches.

What surgery day looks like

Hour by hour, here is what to expect on your Teeth in a Day appointment.

8:00 AM — Arrival and sedation

You arrive having fasted overnight. Final 3D scan review. IV sedation is administered by a board-certified anesthesia provider. Within minutes, you're comfortably asleep.

9:00 AM — Extractions and implant placement

Any failing or remaining teeth in the arch are removed. Four to six implants are placed using your custom surgical guide. Each implant is positioned to maximize anchorage in your specific bone anatomy.

12:00 PM — Bridge attachment and bite verification

Your custom temporary bridge — fabricated before surgery — is attached to the implants. We verify your bite is even and natural-feeling.

2:00 PM — Discharge

You wake up, recover briefly, and leave with fixed teeth, written post-operative instructions, prescribed medications already filled, and Dr. Huang's direct number for the evening check-in call. Total time from arrival to discharge is typically 5–7 hours, depending on case complexity.

Who's a candidate for Teeth in a Day

Candidacy is determined during your 3D-imaging consultation. Most full-arch patients qualify; here are the key factors.

Patients with full-arch tooth loss or failing teeth

The protocol is specifically designed for restoring an entire arch of teeth at once. Patients with one or two missing teeth typically don't qualify — they're better served by single-tooth or multi-tooth implants.

Adequate bone for implant placement

Sufficient bone volume to anchor four to six implants is required. Mild to moderate bone loss is often manageable with the angled placement protocol. Severe upper-jaw bone loss may indicate that zygomatic implants (still same-day teeth, but using cheekbone anchorage) are the better fit.

Generally healthy enough for surgery under sedation

Standard cardiovascular, respiratory, and metabolic health screening. Conditions that complicate sedation are accommodated with modified anesthesia plans.

Patients without contraindications

Active untreated cancer in the jaw, severe uncontrolled diabetes, ongoing IV bisphosphonate therapy, and active infection are the primary contraindications. Most other conditions — including controlled diabetes, smoking history, and complex medical histories — can be accommodated.

What recovery looks like after Teeth in a Day

A predictable recovery curve from day-one fixed teeth to your permanent zirconia bridge.

Days 1–3

The most uncomfortable period. Manageable swelling, bruising, and discomfort controlled with prescribed medication. You wear the fixed temporary bridge — nothing is removable. Eat soft foods only.

Days 4–14

Discomfort resolves significantly. You can return to most daily activities. Diet remains soft to medium-texture (smoothies, eggs, pasta, fish, tender chicken). Speaking and smiling normally with the temporary bridge.

Weeks 3–12

The implants integrate with surrounding bone — a process called osseointegration. The temporary bridge stays in place throughout. Diet gradually progresses but remains conservative.

Months 4–6

Final impressions are taken. The custom zirconia bridge — your permanent teeth — is fabricated. At the final appointment, the temporary is removed and the zirconia bridge is permanently attached. Diet returns fully to normal at this point.

What Teeth in a Day costs and what's included

Teeth in a Day pricing varies based on the protocol used. All quoted prices include the implants, IV sedation, the same-day temporary bridge, post-operative care for the first year, and the final zirconia bridge.

Protocol Starting price
All-on-4 (4 implants)$17,995/arch
All-on-6 (6 implants)$19,995/arch
All-on-8 (8 implants)$24,995/arch
Zygomatic (cheekbone implants)$24,995/arch

Each price includes the implants, IV sedation, the same-day temporary bridge, post-operative care for the first year, and the final zirconia bridge. Cases requiring bone grafting, sinus lifts, or other ancillary procedures are quoted separately.

Financing is available — typical monthly payments range from $348/month to $495/month depending on protocol and credit approval.

Common questions about Teeth in a Day

Yes. The fixed temporary bridge is screwed onto the implants at the end of your surgical appointment. It is not removable — you eat, smile, and sleep with it in place.
2–4 hours for All-on-4 and All-on-6 protocols. 4–6 hours for All-on-8 or zygomatic. Total time at our office on surgery day is typically 5–7 hours.
Yes. Your temporary bridge is custom-designed for your specific facial features, lip line, and aesthetic preferences. Most patients report that their temporary teeth look better than the failing teeth they replaced.
No. For the first 6–12 weeks of healing, you're on a soft to medium-texture diet to protect the integrating implants. After full integration and the final bridge placement, you can eat anything — including steak, corn on the cob, and apples.
The temporary is designed to function for 3–6 months while your implants integrate. The permanent zirconia bridge is then placed and is designed to last 15–25+ years.
"Teeth in a Day" is a category of treatment that includes All-on-4, All-on-6, All-on-8, and zygomatic protocols — anything where fixed teeth are placed the same day as implant surgery. All-on-4 is the most common version.
Most dental insurance plans cover a portion of the procedure — particularly the extractions and the final prosthetic. We verify your benefits during consultation and apply any insurance reimbursement directly to your treatment.
Mild to moderate bone loss is often manageable with standard Teeth in a Day protocols. Severe upper-jaw bone loss may be better treated with zygomatic implants — still same-day teeth, but anchored in the cheekbone instead of the jaw. Your 3D scan during consultation determines which is right.
The titanium implants are designed to last a lifetime when properly maintained. With routine cleaning, regular dental visits, and appropriate at-home care, many patients keep their original implants permanently.
Age alone is rarely a disqualification. We've performed the procedure on patients in their 80s and 90s. What matters is general health and bone availability, both of which we evaluate during consultation.

Other Teeth in a Day protocols and related options

Each of these is a same-day-teeth pathway — the right one for you depends on your bone, your bite, and your goals.
